Taking into account the necessity to give adequate and quick answers to the requests received from operators in the agricultural sector, the new executive body of AGROMED has deemed it appropriate to acquire, for various reasons, public structures already existing in the area of Taranto, instead of building new constructions which would require timing no longer compatible with the needs of the sector.
Following the survey that took place after the aforementioned request, among the public structures made available for AGROMED by the Municipalities of the province of Taranto, the one that was chosen is the plant denominated “Ex Miroglio”, located in the Municipality of Castellaneta – it matches the needs of the project due to the size of the factory and the strategic position adjacent to the A14 highway Bologna – Taranto, the Adriatic railway, the airport of Grottaglie and the port of Taranto. The industrial complex, in relation to its previous activity, given the size, the modular nature, the internal structural characteristics and, finally, the presence of warehouses, a weighbridge and several loading-unloading bays, is well suited to becoming a hub for food processing and logistics.
